DJ Murkury

I met music producer, Murkury (Alec), back in 2014 when I was studying photography in Boone, North Cackalacky. We hit it off with our shared love of electronic music, from haus to deep bass. If my memory serves me (ehhh), I was putting up posters for Counterpoint Music Festival’s street team when we met. Anyway, Alec and I became friends and shared many a nights listening to him mix in his living room, with his roommate Austin and they’re sweet cat, Tyra Danks. I was grateful to have a taste of EDM in our small college town before the scene arrived. Fast forward six years and Alec is now a big name in the underground deep bass scene and tours the country (when Rona regulations permit).

Not only that, Alec is the founder of The Undergrowth— a collective of conscious electronic music producers and visionary artists in Asheville, North Carolina. Murkury has contributed in huge ways to the scene which was practically non-existent back in 2015. I feel honored to see Alec come up and make a name for himself in the music scene. Go best friend!

In the summer of 2019, Alec came out to Denver to play a set at Temple. Seeing him play for a big audience and finally sharing the hype of his music with others was exhilarating. Murkury is a go-getter and manages to stay humble while inspiring new producers and artists to achieve their goals as well.
